Epson PictureMate Dash Review: A Photo-Printing Marvel

Epson PictureMate Dash
The PictureMate line of small-format photo printers has always stood out, but Epson has really outdone itself this time, with its newest value addition, the sub-$100 Dash. Although the Dash is the low-cost version of the newest generation of PictureMates, it offers features I’m used to seeing only on printers that cost far more - from a surprisingly big 3.6-inch LCD screen to the ability to print from a wide range of sources. It’s also the fastest small-format photo printer I’ve seen at any price.

Though, like its predecessors, the Dash may resemble an ordinary lunchbox, opening the unit’s top cover reveals the controls and the surprisingly large 3.6-inch LCD screen panel underneath. The Dash is a little bulky, but a separate battery option helps with portability. The unit can churn out about 140 photos per charge, according to Epson.

After a simple setup, the Dash can print from a memory card, PictBridge camera, USB key, or computer. The tiltable LCD screen offers an impressive array of editing commands that let you adjust brightness and color saturation, select black-and-white or sepia modes, remove red-eye, and add frames and graphics.

The Dash is aptly named, coming in at 42 seconds per photo on our standard suite, the fastest time of any dedicated photo printer I’ve ever tested. The Dash excels in terms of output quality as well. All of the photos I printed, regardless of source, qualify as true photo quality. They’re one step down from what you might get at a professional photo lab or from a much more expensive printer, but easily a match for what you would expect from a local drugstore or photo shop. Cost per photo-25.3 cents per print for glossy and 32.3 cents each for matte-is the lowest of any dedicated small-format photo printer I’ve seen.

The Dash delivers a combination of features, speed, and output quality unheard of at this price.

Samsung CLP-300 Review: Cheap Color Laser Printer

Samsung CLP-300
Dinky and cheap is the correct two sentences to represent Samsung innovation in printer segment. They made a success in monochrome laser printer with ML-2010, and now they did it again in colour laser printer with CLP-300. With only US$ 328, this color laser printer present with compact design and light enough (13,6 kgs) so that can be applied in small office and also home.

A compact CLP-300 physical of course draws attention because different from other colour laser printer which generally have big body. No wonder if this design gets the award from Reddot Design Award 2006. The panel is also very simple and only presents LED lamp as activity process indicator because further arrangement is done directly from PC. One other pleasing feature is the existence of pop-up windows which is informative, especially if happened errors, makes usage of printer become felt easy.

Because it small size, this printer only provides one tray with 150 sheets capacities without expansion. While for connect it to computer, is provided USB 2.0 connection. If you plan to apply it in office network, it’s available CLP-300 in N series (CLP-300N) which provides network connection through Ethernet.

If till now we recognize long laser printer toner hence you will surprise with toner from CLP-300. The toner form, which is look like a mug seen non ordinary but hardly easy to be installed in printer. This toner claimed can print 2000 pages for black color and 1000 pages at color toner of cyan, magenta and yellow.

Equipped by CHORUSm 300MHz processor and 32MB memory, CLP-300 performance is including quickly. For 1 A4 text page only require time 10 seconds only. But when printing the next page, the speed declines harshly, until 1 minute 37 seconds to print 5 page contains text and picture. While for the quality, we see satisfying result for text, but not so good is picture result. The problem is the existence of invisible ink dots, so that the print result seen less solid.

Look from its ability, Samsung CLP-300 is interesting enough for them which need an economic colour laser printer. Its color quality of course not special, but this printer is excellent in price, simplicity, size, and economical power usage. The result, this product is competent for small office and home user.

Lexmark C782n Review: Paper-Handling Wiz

Lexmark C782n
Speed, paper handling, and output quality are all factors in choosing an office laser printer. The Lexmark C782n is fairly fast and has good print quality but its forte is paper handling. It comes with the trays and accessories to deal with huge printing volumes, as is fitting for a printer with a 150,000 page monthly duty cycle.

The C782n has a 600e-sheet capacity, divided between a 500-sheet drawer and a 100-sheet multipurpose tray. Other configurations add a duplexer and a second 500-sheet tray; an optional 2,000-sheet feeder can boost capacity to an astounding 3,100 sheets. Stapling, finishers, output and banner media tray, mailboxes, envelope drawers, and other accessories are available. Unsurprisingly, this is a hefty machine at 20.8 by 23.8 by 18.5 inches (HWD) and 105 pounds.

The C782n’s rated 40 ppm for monochrome printing and 35 ppm for color, borne out on our tests, also befits large volume printing. It’s clear, though, that the C782n favors speed over output quality. Its text, though subpar for a laser, is fine for business use. Graphics were adequate for internal use, though you might not want to send them to key clients. Photos were fine for light office needs.

If your office prints in bulk, the C782n should be on your laser printer short list.

Xerox Phaser 8860 Color Printer Review: A $2,500 Bargain Color Laser

Phaser 8860
Most of us are familiar with the business model of printers: Practically give away the printer itself, and then make a killing selling the ink. With its Phaser 8860 Color Printer, Xerox has turned that model on its head. The color printer itself cost $2,500, but Xerox is just about giving the ink away with its very low cost per page. If your business prints a lot in color, this laser-class, solid-ink printer will more than pay for itself within a few years.

Xerox claims a 3.2-cent cost per page (based on the ISO/IEC standard) for color with the 8860. Few color printers even break the 10-cent mark. The next-lowest claim among color lasers I’ve tested is 8.7 cents per page for the Konica Minolta magicolor 5570. That’s a minimum savings of 5.5 cents per page with the 8860, which would pay for itself in three years should you print 1.275 color pages per month. The 8860’s 1.7 cents per monochrome page is also very attractive.

The 8860’s rated print speed is 30 pages per minute (ppm) for both monochrome and color at its top speed, and 16 ppm for both in default (enhanced) mode. This is a little slow for the price-though it’s tempting to quip that you could use the extra waiting time to calculate your cost saving. In absolute terms, though, the 8860 is none too slouchy. On our tests, it turned in reasonable times in default mode.

Text is a touch below typical laser quality, though fine for most uses. The text’s clean, crisp edges give it a professional look. A few small or stylized fonts suffered on our tests, but most were easily readable at 6 points, and some at 4. Graphics are better than I usually see from lasers, despite some graininess. They’re fine for in-house use, as well as mailings and simple brochures. Photo quality is typical of lasers.

Equipped with a standard 525-sheet drawer, a 100-sheet multipurpose tray, and a duplexer, the 8860 does well at paper handling. You can also add two more 525-sheet drawers ($400 each) for a maximum capacity of 1,675 pages.

Even if it were a mediocre printer, the operating cost savings alone would make the Phaser 8860 well worth considering. Adding In the strong output quality, ample paper handling, and acceptable speed should be enough to convince you to Ink the deal.

Brother MFC-240C Review: Another Multifunction Printer

Brother MFC-240C
What you expect from a print peripheral in home? Any of it, altogether can be serviced by this Brother MFC-240C. You also able to send fax and print your photo without need a PC with this peripheral.

Brother MFC-240C can be said as a most complete multifunction inkjet peripheral. Besides its function to print, scan, copy and fax, this peripheral also has two input methods there is sheet-fed and flatbed. Its mean we can duplicate any form documents, it’s in the thick form like book and also thin form like newspaper sheet. Moreover, all the abilities present in small dimension.

Its clearly control panel design with 1 line LCD screen seen great and beautiful. Fourth of function provided has separate button, facilitates us to move from one function to other. In panel underside there is available direct print feature, it’s in memory card slot (supports CF, SID, xD, and MS) and also USB port PictBridge. For paper input there is available small tray with total 100 sheets capacities. ADF (Auto of Document Feeder) also able to be applied for paper input, but only can accomodate 10 sheets only.

To facilitate its use, Brother figures in interesting feature in every function. At Copy feature for example, there is facility enlargement / minimizing in 25- 400% distances. There is also N-in-1 feature, so that we can duplicate 4 documents maximum in one paper sheet. Unhappily, this feature only for B/W documents only. While for fax function, its special feature is able to keep fax can in memory to 170 sheets and auto-dial to 40 numbers.

From its speed side, MFC-240C comes up good enough. To print 5 pages contains with monochrome text and colour, time required around 1 minute 48 seconds. Same approximately time also noted to duplicate 5 text pages. However to print the documents with picture element, time became expand until 3 minute. MFC-240C likely rather slow to prints picture, and this thing clearly seen when we to print the photo in postcard size (46 inchs) what requires time 3 minute 20 seconds.

Its print quality is good enough, though not special. Text is seen solid, though we expect more condensed color. The problem of un-condensed color clearly seen at Copy quality, so the result is seen rough and less comfort to read.

As a multifunction peripheral, Brother MFC-240C pertained very complete in its class. As for the bad side it’s in the copy quality, not so representatif for requirement of document duplication which the detail is importance.

Samsung SCX-4521F: Multifunction Printer

Fast is good, but better if small and fast. That is the concept which becomes main interest of multifuncion peripheral, Samsung SCX-4512F. Even its footprint is only around 44x37 cm and height 37 cm; this peripheral has provided function of print, copy, scan, and fax. Print technology applied is laser, so that function of print, copy, and fax is only for monochrome documents. But the scan function can apply color documents.

Even has small form, its speed can be said high. To print 5 page text documents, time required is 23 seconds. The FPOT (First Print Out Time) is also around 12 seconds, so still felt fast if you often prints one sheet of paper only. Its copy speed is the same, even only requires 9 second to print one sheet of paper. If it is compared to Canon MF4122, its speed is can be said equal.

Its compact and detail control panel with its soft button, makes it seen beloved and nice-looking. Its navigation is also seen directional and clear plus 2 line matrix LCD screen to facilitate the usage. At the control panel also available Samsung printer Toner Saver special button which functions to economizes toner usage.

This peripheral provides some unique copy feature. The example is ID Copy which can print you identity card (or other reciprocating documents) in one paper sides. Just copy face side of your ID, then this peripheral automatically saves it in memory. Then you copied backside of ID, and both sides will be printed in one sides of paper sheet. Besides ID Copy, there is Poster Copy (prints a big picture compiled from some paper sheets), Auto-Fit Copy (duplicates documents from small sheet to large size automatically), and Clone Copy (duplicates one source of object and prints excessively in one paper sheet).

Its fax function is also has some interesting feature. Our favorite feature is the memory which able to save 100 numbers, so not necessary to remembers lot of important client fax number. If one day you forgot to filling paper, this peripheral also able to saved receiving fax in its memory until maximum 160 sheets.

From our test, Samsung SCX-4521F can show its class as multifunction peripheral which ready to work quickly with good quality. The $ 310 price very fascinates to home user till SoHo user which needed multifunction printer with reached price.

Canon Selphy CP740: Good, Cheap Photos

Looking for a bargain-basement photo printer? The Canon Selphy CP740 is hard to beat. This dedicated small-format photo printer offers compelling extras-such as the ability to print on a variety of paper sizes up to 4 by 8 inches, and a color LCD-at a low price. Just be prepared to make do with a 2-inch pReviews LCD and no battery option.

Geared for travel, the CP740 weighs a mere 2.1 pounds and measures 2.5 by 7 by 5 inches (11WD). There’s a 2-inch LCD for pReviewsing photos and a red-eye reduction feature.

Setup is simple for printing from a memory card or a PictBridge camera, but you have to run the fully automated setup program to print from your computer.TheCP740 produces photo-quality output that is usually a match for what you’d get from your local drugstore, though the results can be a little uneven. Some of our test photos printed slightly dark, losing detail and edging toward muddy-looking colors. Prints are reasonably waterproof and scratch resistant.

The speedy CP740 averaged admirable 1 minute 4 seconds for each 4-by-6 print. Price per print varies but generally works out to about 27.8 cents for a standard print. Considering the low initial cost and fairly good price per print, the CP740 may well be the bargain of choice.

HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer: Photo Printing With Style

If hauling yourself to the local drugstore to print photos is too long a trek, here’s a stay-at-home solution. HP’s Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer offers a 4.8-inch touch screen that turns the unit into a kind of mini photo kiosk.

The A626 weighs only 3.2 pounds, plus an extra 8 ounces for the included battery. HP says the printer can churn out 75 4-by-6 photos on a full charge. The A626 can also produce standard-format photos at up to 5 by 7 inches and panoramas up to 4 by 12 inches.

After the simple setup, the A626 can print from a computer, a PictBridge camera, a memory card, or a USB key. The latter two can be used with touch-screen-based menus, which enable photo-editing tasks such as cropping, red-eye removal, or adding a frame.

Photo output was true photo quality, though some colors looked a bit punchy. Print speed, at upward of a minute, was less than impressive. Cost per print is just above average, at 29.2 cents for a 4-by-6.

Still, the A626’s touch-screen convenience and overall quality design are enough to make it a winner.

HP Color LaserJet CP3505n Printer: Print Cost Estimator Not Worth the Price

Sometimes it pays to know how much your print job will cost before you go through with it. The HP Color LaserJet CP3505n Printer often just that: Its Print Cost Estimator online tool lets small businesses compare the price of producing small print jobs in-house versus having them done at a local copy shop.

Unfortunately, the CP3505n falls short on some crucial qualities for a small-business printer, and it’s unwieldy, at 16.9 by 16.3 by 20.1 inches (HWD) and 59.6 pound. It posted average speeds on our test, clocking in at 11 minutes 44 seconds on our business applications suite, but output quality was subpar for a laser. Though more than half the fonts on our test tests were easily readable at 5 point, character spacing was a problem for some fonts up to 20 points. The printer did better in graphics and photo quality, despite some graininess.

The HP Color LaserJet CP3505n Printer is a reasonable choice and comes with some interesting features, but you can get more for your money elsewhere.

Most budget home all-in-ones (AIOs) offer little beyond basic printing, scanning, and copying. The Lexmark X3550 is typical of its class, though with a few added conveniences. If your PC has a fax modem, the X3550 lets you scan and fax through it. And optional Wi-Fi can be had for $50 extra, giving those who need it the convenience of wireless printing tin a shoestring budget but not forcing you to pay for it if you can do without it. Although it’s weak on text quality and lacks an automatic document feeder (ADF), it delivers decent graphics and photos.

The X3550 is fairly fast for its price, handling our business applications suite in 20:21 (min:sec). Photo print speeds were slower but still reasonable. Text quality was subpar, even for an ink jet, with fewer than half passing our test at 8 points. The output is okay for home use or schoolwork if you stick to standard font.

Graphics and photo output is a match for most ink jet AIOs. Photo quality is adequate for printing snapshots for friends, though the prints are not even remotely waterproof.

Despite its text and photo shortcomings, the X3550 offers a good balance of features, speed, and output quality form attractive price.

HP Photosmart Pro B9180 Photo Printer: Picture Perfect

HP has largely steered clear of the “prosumer” photo printer niche, which caters to serious amateur photographers and professionals on a budget. It’s made a splash, though, with its superb Photosmart Pro 9180, one of the best sub-$1,000 photo printers you can get.

The B9180 prints on regular, photo, and fine-arts papers up to 13 by 19 inches, as well as on banner paper up to 13 by 44 inches. It uses an eight-color ink system with pigment-based inks, which tend to last longer than dye-based inks. HP claims a lifetime of more than 200 years for prints on its best papers in dark storage or behind glass.

The printer turned in a reasonably fast total time on the test suite, at 15:30 (min:sec). The quality of my test photos-on an assortment of papers, including several fine-arts papers-was as good as anything I’ve seen. Even monochrome photos were superb. Graphics looked terrific when printed on photo Paper.

Ultimately, the HP Photosmart Pro B9180 Photo Printer’s most compelling trick is its price. It stands toe-to-toe with the competition on output quality and features, yet it costs significantly less. This printer’s stellar output qualities, plus a relatively low price, are enough to earn it an Editors’ Choice.

HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One: An All-in-One That’s Not for Everyone

The HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One is a whiz at multitasking, scanning, e-malling, copying, and faxing with case. But when it comes to the basic tasks-printing documents and photos- that’s where the device reveals its weaknesses.

At 14.8 pounds, the J5780 is light enough to move .around easily, and small enough, at 9.3 by 18 by 15.2 inches (HWD), to keep on your desk. Setup for the J5780 is pretty standard, but the unit’s mostly automatic alignment is unusual enough to mention: When you load print cartridges, the front-panel LCD prompts you to print an alignment page and scan it. The AIO then makes any needed adjustments.

In our tests, the J5780 performed reasonably well, scoring 21:10 on our business applications suite (on a par with similarly priced models), but slowing down significantly on photo jobs, averaging 3:11 for 4-by-6 prints and 8:17 for 8-by-10s. Graphic and photo quality was also adequate, though photos smudged easily, even when dry. Text quality was dicey. Fewer than half the fonts in our test were well formed at 8 points. The text is sharp enough for the needs of most schools or small businesses, but not if you’re going for a professional look.

The J5780’s total package is 3 good fit as a lightduty home AIO or as a personal printer in a small office, if you aren’t too demanding about text quality.

HP PHOTOSMART A320: Cheap Portable Photo Printer

If you wish to create private photo studio, in fact you doesn't require big spaces. Moreover, you don’t have to spend lot of money. All you need is this HP Photosmart A320. This Printer added specifically for print postcard photo size, so its dimension is also small (22, 5 x 11x13, 5 cm) and light (1, 3 kgs). The price is also cheap, that is $ 84; if compares to conspecific product like Canon Selphy ES1 which esteemed around $ 240.

From the equipment angle, Photosmart A320 of course not complete as Selphy ES1. For example, there is no LCD screen in this printer. So to arrange print process, you relies on button on the top of this printer. One of button is functions to activate HP Real Life Technologies to assist photo repair process like eliminating red-eye and arrangement of color/ contrast. Other function, like information if get errors, only present through indicator lamp.

Its connection is also limited. Besides printing through PC, this printer only provides PictBridge connectifity for direct print from camera. Bluetooth Facility actualy is exist, but optional. But, less of card reader is most disappointingly. Though for a portable printer, existence of card reader hardly crusial because will facilitate the user to print anywhere without depends on PC or camera that is is supporting Pictbridge.

What about its performance? From its speed, Photosmart A320 can print postcard photo size during 1 minute 47 seconds. As comparison, Selphy ES1 requires 1 minute 30 seconds. So, Selphy ES1 is more effectivly from the speed angle. While in quality, Selphy ES1 is more accurately in color printing, because its dye-sublimation prints technology. But it’s not meaning the quality of HP Photosmart A320 is bad. Shapness of print reslut is good, and guaranteed will satisfy for majority user.

Totally, HP Photosmart A320 offers ideal solution for you which having hobby to prints photo. The price is cheap and remains to produce satisfying print result. No card reader feature maybe becoming little insuffiency, but if your prints activity mostly do at home and applies computer, the insuffiency will not bother you.

Xerox Phaser 8560MFP/D: As Solid as Its Ink

Solid-ink printers are designed to compete with color lasers, offering laser-like speed and output quality. They’re pretty much exclusive to Xerox, whose latest, the Phaser 8560MFP/D, is among the more impressive laser-class all-in-ones I’ve seen.

Solid-ink printers are best for an offi ce that can keep the printer running all night so that the ink stays melted. The 8560MFP/D is a whiz at paper handling, with a standard 625-sheet paper capacity and a 1,675-sheet maximum with optional trays. It also has a built-in duplexer.

The 8560MFP/D went through our business applications suite in 10 minutes 31 seconds, faster than the fastest color laser AIO I’ve tested. It also prints photos quickly, averaging 23 seconds for a 4-by-6 and 36 seconds for an 8-by-10.

The 8560MFP/D’s output quality is superb. Text is a bit below ideal. Graphics were good enough for any internal business need. Photos were superior for a laser-class printer, good enough to pass as true photo quality at arm’s length.

If you’re looking for a color laser AIO, don’t rule out a solid-ink unit. The Xerox Phaser 8560MFP/D offers an effective balance of speed, output quality, and features for a small to midsize office.

HP Officejet Pro K5400dtn Color Printer: Laser-Class Ink Jet

If you’re looking for a color printer for a small office, you might go with an inexpensive laser printer. Or you might pick the HP Officejet Pro K5400dtn Color Printer, an ink jet with many of the qualities of a color laser, at a much lower price and running costs.

The K5400dtn has laser-like speed on text, finishing our business suite in 8 minutes 49 seconds, a record for standard ink jets. But photo speed was not very good, averaging 2:25 (min:sec) for a 4-by-6 and 5:22 for an 8-by-10. Like a laser, the K5400dtn is optimized for business printing, and that includes output quality. Text and graphics were decent though not laser-quality), but photos fell short. Colors were often too punchy, and prints prone to smudging.

Paper-handling capability is strong, thanks to the two paper trays and duplexer. The K5400dtn is priced inexpensively, and at 1.5 cents for a blackand-white page and 6 cents for a color page, the company’s claimed cost per page is relatively low.

When it comes to quality, the K5400dtn may not be a match for a laser, but small offices may find it a good substitute.

Canon Pixma Pro9000: Photo Prints Fit for Framing

Almost any ink jet printer can churn out decent photos, particularly at small sizes. But to get exceptional quality, and to print on fine-art papers at sizes up to 13 by 19 inches, you need a high-end printer built for professional photographers or serious amateurs. The Canon Pixma Pro9000 may just fill the bill. The Pro9000 packs an eight-color ink system, designed both to widen the range of colors it can print and to reproduce the subtle shading that makes skin tones look realistic and rounded objects look three-dimensional.

Although it can serve as an all-purpose printer in a pinch, the Pro9000 is clearly built for photos: The default paper setting in the driver is for photo paper. Slower than its rivals, the Pro9000 ran through our business applications suite at a lackadaisical 25:58 (min:sec), but nobody is going to buy it to output spreadsheets. And although print speed is far less important than output quality for photos, its worth noting that, in its price class, the Pro9000 is the fastest photo printer I’ve tested, averaging 1:06 for each 4-by-6 print and 2:05 for each 8-by-10.

Photo quality is equally impressive. When tested with semigloss fine-art paper, the Pro9000 earned a perfect score on almost every point I use to evaluate color prints. The only shortcoming as a slight tint on a monochrome photo. I also printed our standard photo suite on a range of other papers. With matte paper, the quality was just as good for color photos and better for monochrome prints, which were free of tint. I also printed an assortment of photos on several of Canon's fine art papers, including Museum Etching, Photo Rag, Premium Matte, and Semi-Gloss. I was so impressed with the results that I plan to frame several of the photos.

Graphics quality is also superior, with no notable flaws. This makes the Pro9000 a fine choice for graphic artists. Its text output was a little bit below par for an ink jet, particularly with more stylized, non-business fonts, but few people will be using the Pro9000 to print text.

At 7.6 by 26.0 by 14.0 inches (HWD) and 30.8 pounds, the Pro9000 is larger and heavier than most ink jets. You’ll need extra room in the front and back to print on large-size paper, in effect making the printer’s footprint 26 by 26 inches. But for most photo enthusiasts, the Pro9000’s spectacular prints will be well worth the extra space it takes up.

For photo quality in its price range, the Pro9000 can’t be beat. About its only real drawback is that, if you print a lot of photos in a single session, you may find that one or another of its eight ink cartridges will always seem to be on the brink of needing replacement.

Sony Picture Station DPP-FP90: Snapshot Printer Deluxe

Although Sony’s small-format photo printers have excelled at speed and quality, they've had shortfalls such as high cost per print or limited acceptance of memory card formats. With the Picture Station DPP-FP90, however, Sony seems to have gotten it right. It builds on the best in previous models while adding features such as a big (3.6-inch) color LCD and the ability to read numerous memory card formats.

The DPP-FP90 is compact. Measuring 2.3 by 6.9 by 5.3 inches (HWD), it weighs 2.2 pounds and has a handle for carrying. Unfortunately, it lacks even an optional battery.

The DPP-FP90 took 5O seconds per 4-by-6 print when printing from a computer, effectively tying the fastest dedicated photo printer I've tested. It prints even faster from CompactFlash cards. Output should at least match whit you'd expect from a photo Mask. With the LCD, you get some kiosk-style editing features. The menu offers filters for monochrome, sepia, and the like.

If you buy the most economical package of paper plus a dye roll, at $35 for 120 photos, the cost per print is 29 cents, in line with that of other dedicated photo printers. When you consider it’s per- print cost, speed, output quality, and its feature set, the DPP-FPOO is near picture-perfect.

Sony Picture Station DPP-FP90: $199.99

DELL PHOTO ALL-IN-ONE PRINTER 926: BUDGET AIO FOR HOME OR DORM

The latest low-end ink jet all-in-one (AIO) from Dell is slower than the unit it replaces, produces lower-quality output, and costs $10 more. But the 926 is still fairly fast, and it’s a solid choice for a budget AIO if you can make do with less-than-perfect output.

The 926 can copy, scan, and print from PictBridge cameras and memory cards. It can scan to e-mail, and, if you have a fax modem, the 926 can scan to its own fax utility on your PC and send the scan as a fax. It lacks an ADF, so you have to load documents one page at a time.

Text printing was below par, even for an ink jet. Small type was full of flaws including broken lines, filled-in loops in letters, and varying line thickness. Graphics were good enough for internal business use, though with visible flaws. Photo output was inconsistent, though okay for snapshots. Dell claims a 100-year lifetime for the 926s photos in dark storage. Prints are fairly resistant to water and smudging. The 926 is a reasonable choice as a low-priced AIO for home, dorm, or home office. It does the job, as long as you don’t need high-quality outputs.
