Seattle 2008 : Mobius Day 1, MWg and Zinc II

Were you aware that O2 was purchased by Expansys? As part of the purchase Expansys acquired everything, and has now rebranded the company as MWg. According to their site, “Mobile & Wireless Group (MWG) is a Singapore based start-up company established to develop and market premium, converged mobile devices. Founded by the team responsible for O2’s ground-breaking range of PDA-phones, MWG will meet growing global customer demand for customized devices with an emphasis on design, technology, reliability and service.” We were led in a group session by Roger Butterworth, of MWg, who wanted feedback from us about where devices needed to go as far as usability and features. They want to focus on the design and service. The very first device we had the pleasure to play with was their Zinc II, a well build device with great material which feel “good” under your fingers. I especially like the keyboard touch with haptic feedback. The Zinc II is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device, with a 500MHz CPU, 256MB of flash ROM and 64MB of RAM, the only drawback is the 2.8 QVGA screen, I would love to get a VGA one instead.read more at Akihabaranews.
